5 Element Theory: Season of Fire For Dogs

Fire Element

Fire Element & the Season of Fire

June 21 - Sept 9

The Season of Fire prioritizes the heart, the small intestine and the nervous system.

Personality: Fire-type animals are easily excited, difficult to calm down, and classic extroverts. They are the happy go luckies and highly entertaining.

They are friendly but can be quite noisy and will always be ‘talking’ to you. (I call them sassy or mouthy, sometimes verbally demanding or expressive.)

They are highly sociable and greet everyone with enthusiasm, finding it really hard to keep still when people come to visit! They are curious and communicative but although they want to please they are hard to train because of their short attention spans. Their sociable nature means that if this element is out of balance they can suffer from separation anxiety and can be overly restless.

Physical Traits: They tend to have a small head but a strong body, and small but bright eyes. They are very fast but don’t have a lot of stamina. Their skin tends to be quite pink underneath their fur.

Organs: Associated with the Heart and Small Intestine. The fire element is also associated with blood vessels and the flow of nutrients around the body.

Disease: Prone to heart disease or abnormal heart rhythms. This can be especially true for dogs who are frequently frustrated.

Color is Red or Purple.

The Heart rules 'Shen" (the mind) so emotions are closely connected with the heart. In many classic cases, we see joy and happiness -- but deficiencies will lean into other emotions heavily.

Dogs with Excess fire -- I often describe as hot-headed, snappy, reactive, attitudinal, aggressive. They may even have too much joy, too much energy & excitement. You may even see excess fire dogs with allergic red-hot itchy conditions. These dogs often seem hot even when it's cool/cold outside. They may pant when it's not hot, when they are not exercising, or even feel hot to the touch.

Dogs Deficient of fire can often be anxious, weak, or cold. Heart conditions, paleness, restlessness, anxiety, lack of joy inability to stay motivated are often expressions of a depletion of fire.

Issues may be more intense midday (11am - 3pm) and in the evening (7pm to 11pm), so what for signs!

Like supports like so feeding heart and tongue can be beneficial for fire dogs. Feeding cooling foods and using cooling essential oils can be helpful for these animals.
