Iridology Tells A Story

Beautiful? Or informative? It is both.

Iridology is a natural health discipline that involves analyzing the iris of the eye to determine information about an individual's health. This practice has been used for centuries to diagnose various health issues and to create personalized treatment plans for individuals, including our furry friends, dogs. In this blog post, we will explore the history of iridology, what we can look for in a dog's iris, and how it relates to their overall health.

What is Iridology and its History?

Iridology is a practice that has been used for thousands of years, dating back to ancient civilizations such as the Greeks and Egyptians. The idea behind iridology is that the iris of the eye is a map of the body, with different sections of the iris corresponding to different organs and systems. The iris reflects the health of the body and changes in the iris can indicate changes in the body's health.

Iridology as a science was developed in the late 19th century by Dr. Ignatz von Peczely, a Hungarian physician. He noticed that his patients' iris changed in color and pattern after they had suffered from an injury or illness. He went on to study the iris and create a system of analysis that is still used today.

What to Look for in a Dog's Iris

In a dog's iris, we can look for a variety of things that indicate changes in their health. Some of the things that we look for include:

  • Color: The color of the iris can change due to a variety of factors, including inflammation, dehydration, and changes in blood flow.

  • Texture: The texture of the iris can indicate changes in the body's health. For example, if the iris is cloudy, it may indicate an underlying health issue.

  • Fibers: The iris is made up of fibers that run in different directions. Changes in the direction of these fibers can indicate changes in the body's health.

  • Discoloration: Discoloration in the iris can indicate the presence of toxins in the body or changes in the body's health.

  • Circles: Circles in the iris can indicate an accumulation of toxins in a particular area of the body.

Relation to the Organ of the Body and Health Changes

Each section of the iris corresponds to a specific organ or system in the body. For example, the area of the iris closest to the pupil corresponds to the brain and central nervous system, while the area furthest from the pupil corresponds to the feet and legs.

Changes in the iris can indicate changes in the body's health. For example, if there is discoloration in a specific area of the iris, it may indicate that there is an accumulation of toxins in that corresponding area of the body. If the texture of the iris is cloudy, it may indicate a clue to an underlying health issue.

The use of iridology in a natural wellness practice for dogs allows practitioners to create personalized strategies for their furry patients. By analyzing the iris, practitioners can determine which organs and systems are affected and tailor their plans to address those specific health concerns.

Looking At the Eyes

The iris of the eye is divided into sections that correspond to different organs and systems in the body, and this mapping is often referred to as the "clock system." This system assigns different regions of the iris to different parts of the body, with the top part of the iris corresponding to the head and the bottom part of the iris corresponding to the feet.

In this system,

  • 12 o'clock position corresponds to the brain and central nervous system

  • 1 o'clock position corresponds to the right eye and sinuses

  • 2 o'clock position corresponds to the gallbladder

  • 3 o'clock position corresponds to the liver

  • 4 o'clock position corresponds to the stomach,

  • 5 o'clock position corresponds to the small intestine

  • 6 o'clock position corresponds to the pelvic region,

  • 7 o'clock position corresponds to the kidneys,

  • 8 o'clock position corresponds to the bladder,

  • 9 o'clock position corresponds to the right hip and thigh,

  • 10 o'clock position corresponds to the right knee and calf,

  • 11 o'clock position corresponds to the right ankle and foot.

The rings of the iris are concentric circles that appear in the iris and can indicate the accumulation of toxins in specific areas of the body. The size and location of these rings can indicate the severity and location of the accumulation, and changes in the size or appearance of these rings over time can indicate changes in the body's health.
